So, in what ways does Bira support independent retailers?

We represent independent retail businesses, the wonderfully unique shops on your high streets and in your shopping centres. You may know them by how passionate they are about what they sell and how they contribute to your local community.

We’ve been backing indies since the 1900s, and during that time, we’ve been fighting for a level playing field within the retail sector. Giving smaller businesses a fair voice against the larger multiples. We influence the media, change government legislation, and provide support in areas of strain like business rates, parking, and staffing.

Feel the same way about independent shops?

There’s now more ways than ever to easily shop with your indies. We support them all, but we’re particularly delighted to offer Neartoo, an online platform that not only provides a directory of hundreds of thousands of UK indies but lets you shop with them online too

Know an independent shop owner?

Send them our way! We’ll aim to get them saving money on key outgoings like card processing rates, insurance, legal advice and loads more. They can find out more at bira.co.uk or by calling our membership team on 0800 028 0245.
