How independent retailers can take part

The National Business Crime Centre (NBCC) is coordinating the SaBA Week to bring police forces, retailers, BIDs, BCRPs and other partners together on targeted operations in towns and city centres across the country to prevent and reduce retail crime.

As part of the initiative, police and partners will be holding Safer Business Action Days throughout the week and visiting local retailers and other businesses to understand more about the issues they are facing on a daily basis. The week will also be used to target prolific offenders and focus on areas where more business crime is being reported.

Bira CEO Andrew Goodacre made the following comments on SaBA Week:

'Nearly every retailer knows all too well that retail crime, abuse of employees and general anti-social behaviour is on the increase. BIRA has been calling on the relevant authorities to do more to support retailers. We welcome this planned campaign and the focus on the Shop Kind message to consumers. We will also continue to push for more support as we build up to the festive period.'

Retailers can access ShopKind assets, including posters, social media banners, and an in-store radio announcement on the NBCC website here. The NBCC has also published guidance for the SaBA Week here and attached. Please promote the ShopKind Campaign and the SaBA Week in your organisation, on social media and across your network next week!
