Sports gear selling well for Bira President

The return of team sport has buoyed sales for Bira's President William Coe.

William, who owns Coes department store in Ipswich reported strong sales of cricket, tennis and running gear, since reopening on April 12.

The comments ran in the East Anglian Daily Times, which was examining the surge in sales of sports gear since the lockdown has lifted.

William said: ""Sport has actually been one of our strongest areas since the first lockdown.

"Obviously it depends on the sport itself. Last summer we sold tons of trainers because so many people were running."

It's a trend, he said, probably won't end any time soon; he's expecting autumn to mean a rise in sale of 'winter' sports gear such as rugby and hockey.
