Bira ‘delighted’ to renew partnership with Ellis Whittam legal services
Bira has announced its new three-year partnership agreement with Ellis Whittam, the Employment Law, HR, and Health & Safety specialist.
The tie-up – building on a longstanding relationship between the organisations – means Bira members have access to a dedicated on-call legal advisory service, as well as a range of online tools and templates, to assist them through the current operating challenges brought about by Covid-19 and beyond.
As part of Bira’s mission to enable a level playing field for independent retailers of any size, Ellis Whittam will help its members to stay on top of changing legislation, maintain legal compliance, and uphold best practice in their duty of care as employers.
A library of guidance documents is available via the Bira website and members can contact a dedicated ‘Bira Legal’ advisory team via telephone or email to seek advice around Employment Law, HR and Health & Safety challenges arising from both business-as-usual operations as well as the consequences of coronavirus. All advisors are qualified professionals who will provide up-to-date advice and support that is bespoke to each member and their circumstances.
Jeff Moody, Commercial Director at Bira, said: “Working with more than 6,500 independent businesses of all sizes, it’s our goal to make every member feel supported, informed and inspired. We help to take the strain out of running an independent business and so are delighted to deepen our relationship with Ellis Whittam, to ensure our members can access vital assistance when they need it.
“If we don’t offer the very best support, people vote by not retaining their membership fees. By working with Ellis Whittam, we know we’re offering best-in-class advice as well as removing the cost to members of employing their own HR consultants.”
Gavin Snell, CEO at Ellis Whittam, added: “Our team is proud to be supporting Bira and its members. Particularly at this time, when we can give the correct support in a challenging and complex employment environment. Ellis Whittam’s advisory service for members will help retail business owners and managers to feel supported, not just with the challenges of people management into next year, but in ensuring their business practices remain Covid-secure.”
Ellis Whittam counts more than 35,000 businesses and organisations across the UK among its customers. It also works in partnership with several other trade associations and professional membership organisations such as the NPA (National Pharmacy Association), NHF (National Hairdressers & Beauticians Association), Propertymark and ACEVO (Association of Chief Executives of Voluntary Organisations), supporting their thousands of members.
