Entrepreneur Award celebrates independent businesses at Everywoman in Retail Awards 2018
On Thursday 13th September, hundreds of retail business leaders gathered at East Wintergarden in London to celebrate the winners of the 2018 Barclaycard Everywoman in Retail Awards. Amongst other inspirational award categories was the Entrepreneur Award, which celebrates owners/operators of a retail business that has been operating for 12 months or more, whose vision has inspired other women to start their own enterprise.
Claudia Lambeth, Founder & CEO of Luna Mae in London was announced as winner of the Entrepreneur Award at the ceremony. At the age of just 22, Claudia founded a bespoke lingerie service specialising in fitting excellence. After successfully pitching her idea to 14 Angel Investors, she secured the funds to launch her products in Fortnum and Mason. She now has a flagship store in Belgravia with an in-house atelier of exceptional British seamstresses, and a loyal client base of 85% repeat customers from as far away as New Zealand.
The other finalists for the Entrepreneur Award were fellow independent retailers, Joanna Jensen, Founder and CEO of Childs Farm in Basingstoke and Amanda Johnson, Owner/Director of Elsie’s Attic in Nottingham.
Maxine Benson MBE, Co-Founder of Everywoman, commented: “This year, Everywoman and Barclaycard were determined to showcase the individuals reimagining the traditional idea of retail. As the industry evolves, so do the role models we celebrate. The diverse range of success stories shared by this year’s winners will inspire the next generation to pursue the ever-widening range of career opportunities that this industry offers.”
