Independent hardware and DIY retailers look on the bright side, with the help of Dulux and bira

Independent retailers explored colour and finishes at AkzoNobel’s Head Quarters in Slough, having a tour of the Dulux Academy and the Dulux Customer Centre, in a visit organised by the British Independent Retailers Association (bira).

Retailers were able to see the latest technology being developed, new ranges and new POS, as well as discover how colour can be used to completely change the function of a room, something they could take back to their own businesses.

The inspirational day opened retailers’ eyes to how they can better sell AkzoNobel’s products to their customers and what opportunities are available to them as independent retailers. Dulux’s app was of particular interest to the retailers, in getting their customers to see how a certain colour would look in their own home, without the need for sample pots or swatches.

Vin Vara, National President of bira (2016-17) said: “Thank you so much to AkzoNobel for hosting us, it was a fantastic day and gave us a real understanding of the Dulux brand that so many members of the Association stock. It was great to see how far the brand has developed and to see that they are constantly developing with their new Endurance range and we even had a sneak peek at their Innovation Lab to see what might be coming next.”

AkzoNobel’s ranges, which include Dulux, Polycell and Cuprinol, are now available to all bira members, through Stax.
