L. G. Harris & Co. Ltd temporarily closes Bromsgrove Factory
Due to the current Covid-19 virus, L.G. Harris & Co. Ltd. is to temporarily close its factory on Hanbury Road, Stoke Prior to protect its 280 strong work force.
The closure is effective immediately and this will be reviewed in line with Government guidelines on a daily basis.
Some L.G. Harris employees will continue to work from home where possible and our Chinese facility will continue to operate for FOB customers. The company will be utilising the Coronavirus Job Retention Scheme so that it can support employees whose roles make working from home impractical. All affected members of staff will be consulted regarding classification as furloughed workers, in order to avoid layoffs.
Managing Director for L.G. Harris & Co. Ltd, Chris Wood said, “Since the onset of this crisis, the company has been adhering to Government and public health guidelines, but it is now felt that we should temporarily shut the Bromsgrove site, something that has not happened since World War 2. Clearly, closing the factory, even temporarily, is not what anyone would ordinarily wish to do, but the health and safety of the workforce is paramount; and this is the best way to protect them in these difficult circumstances.
We will be contacting all customers and suppliers individually to agree appropriate arrangements during the affected period.”
