Bira members named best giftware retailers

Three Bira members won awards at the Greats Gifts Retailers Awards 2020.

All About Rose, of Thame, Oxfordshire, won the Independent Retailer of the Year (Home Counties, South & South East), while Cilla and Camilla, of Sherborne, Dorset, won Independent Gift Retailer of the Year (South West). Meanwhile, Barkers and Barkers Home, Northallerton won the Best Department Store Retailer of Gifts

Speaking to Bira after the win, Richard Barker of Cilla and Camilla said: "We were genuinely surprised. We have been nominated and short-listed for various awards in previous years, but have never been winners before.  It’s very gratifying to have a lot of hard work, by a lot of people, recognised.

"We, and our staff, are passionate about what we do. We believe in our business, we want our customers to be delighted and we want to be successful.

"With many larger retailers, in larger centres, finding trade difficult, we feel the time is right for retailers like ourselves. Recognition from others helps give the confidence one needs."

Amanda Shrives, who runs All About Rose, said: "We are so pleased to be recognised as best independent gift retailer of the Home Counties. We are beyond grateful for the support we receive from our local area especially during these difficult times. We love being in Thame and hope we will be here for many years to come."

The Greats Gifts Retailers Awards 2020, organised by Progressive Gifts & Home,  celebrates the best giftware retailers in the UK. This year the ceremony was held virtually and nine Bira members were nominated for gongs.
