Members in Scotland urged to sign up for new shop local gift card scheme

Bira is encouraging eligible members in Scotland to register for a new shop local gift card scheme.

Scotland’s Towns Partnership is launching Scotland Loves Local campaign and its corresponding Scotland Loves Local Gift Card.

The thinking behind the Scotland Loves Local Gift Card is to encourage consumers to spend money locally - in turn supporting local businesses, local people, and individual local economies. It has been launched to help businesses recover from the Covid-19 pandemic.

It's a localised product for each of Scotland’s 32 local authority areas, and will be rolled out across Scotland with the support of the Scottish Government.

The gift card can be used in any participating business - retail, hospitality, recreation, culture and experiences, and more. Rollout success does however hinge upon businesses actively participating in the initiative in order to receive payments via the gift card.

It is completely free for businesses to register to receive payments via the gift card, which uses the existing MasterCard network. Registration is quick and simple.
