What would a business rates holiday extension mean to you?

Bira members are being asked what a business rates holiday would mean for them ahead of the Budget on March 3, 2021.

The Save the Street campaign is seeking the views of Bira members in a one-minute survey, the results of which will be used to lobby for an extension in the business rates holiday.

On March 3, Chancellor of the Exchequer Rishi Sunak will deliver the 2021 Budget, outlining the next phase of the plan to tackle the pandemic and protect jobs.

A spokesperson for Save the Street said: "This is a crucial moment. As it stands, the majority of government support for retailers (including business rates relief) is set to end on March 31. With the furlough scheme set to follow in April, retail businesses are facing a financial cliff-edge. We want to make sure it doesn't get to this point."

  • Bira has already been lobbying for the current rates holiday to be extended for at least another year, calling for members to write to their constituency MPs to express their concerns. Read more and find your template letter here.
