Bira CEO visits 'passionate' female entrepreneurs

Bira CEO Andrew Goodacre hit the road to visit members in the south of England.

First stop was to Claire Leigh, owner of design-led gift shop Two Ducks in St John’s Village, Woking, Surrey. Claire is a new director for Bira (she was appointed at the last 'virtual' AGM) and this was the first time for Andrew to meet her in person post-lockdown restrictions.

The second visit was to Shirley Leader, a new member who runs Velvet and Rose fashion boutique in Petersfield, Hampshire. Shirley has been regularly available for media opporunities on behalf of Bira.

Talking about the visit Andrew said: "The common theme from the visit was the passion both women have for their businesses.

"Retailing has never been more difficult, both have been closed as non-essential for many months and yet their enthusiasm was terrific. They clearly know their market, care about their customers and are always looking at new ways of doing business.

"It was good to have the opportunity to visit members in their shops and I look forward to doing many more visits around the country."

The visit follows the one Andrew paid to members in Stoke Newington along with Small Business Minister Paul Scully ahead of reopening in April. More about that here
