The FCA has extended the deadline for Strong Customer Authentication

The FCA has announced they have extended their deadline for implementing Strong Customer Authentication (SCA) for e-commerce transaction from the 14th September 2021 to the 14th March 2022.

This 6-month extension is to ensure disruption to merchants and consumers is minimised. Following the 6 month extension the FCA will expect full compliance for e-commerce transactions.

SCA is a set of regulations that will change how consumers confirm their identity when making payments online. The aim of SCA is to ensure that only the legitimate cardholder is able to make payments.
