Open letter to retailers reminds of safety protocols

Bira has written an open letter to all retailers urging them to revisit safety protocols.

The letter from CEO Andrew Goodacre says the sector is in the most fragile state, as 'non-essential' retail remains closed across the UK.

It calls on all retailers to revisit safety practices in a bid to stop any further lockdowns, and reduce high street casualties.

Andrew Goodacre, Bira's CEO, said: "We need the public and the Government to know that shopping is safe.

"While the focus on safety may have slipped in some larger chain stores, independent retailers must lead the way, and set an example."
