Home Office launches two campaigns to help protect vulnerable communities

The Government and other organisations are running two campaigns to help support vulnerable communities.  As an influencer to local communities round the UK, independent businesses are in prime position to help raise awareness.

The campaigns focus around supporting secondary school children in England suffering from abuse and victims of domestic abuse. Find information on both campaigns below.

Something’s Not Right Campaign

The Home Office has launched a new campaign, 'Something's Not Right', to help secondary school children in England who suffered a range of harms, such as sexual and physical abuse, during lockdown.

The campaign will focus on the following:

  • Social Media Advertising: on Snapchat, Instagram and Facebook which will direct children to the campaign web page. The four adverts can be viewed here.
  • Campaign web page: www.childline.org.uk/somethings-not-right – this has been developed with Childline and is hosted on their website.
  • Lesson Plans: We have collaborated with the PSHE Association, Barnardo’s and the NSPCC to create lesson plans for Key Stage 3, 4 and 5 students. The plans, resources and accompanying teacher guidance are all available to download on the PSHE Association website.

We would greatly appreciate your support in amplifying this campaign to as many children, and those working with children, as possible. All of the campaign materials are available to download from the campaign portal.

#YouAreNotAlone Domestic Abuse campaign

To continue to support victims of domestic abuse, the government has relaunched the #YouAreNotAlone campaign. Advertising on social media and paid search signposts to gov.uk/domestic-abuse where victims, perpetrators and members of the public can find out how to get support if they or someone they know may be experiencing domestic abuse. Information includes Easy Read guidance and organisations that provide support in other languages and to those living with disabilities.

You can download the campaign assets, including the Employer pack, posters, leaflets, animations, email signatures and social media assets, and translated campaign assets. More information can be found in the partner pack attached.
