Bira backs campaign to keep all click and collect open in Scotland

Bira has added its voice to a campaign to allow ‘non-essential’ retailers in Scotland to continue click and collect services.

According to reports, First Minister Nicola Sturgeon is considering banning all click and collect services under tighter restrictions to stop the spread of coronavirus.

However, Bira has joined the Scottish Retail Consortium (SRC) in a letter to Scottish Government’s Economy Secretary, Fiona Hyslop MSP, asking for click and collect to be allowed to continue.

It confirms that there has been no shared public health data sighting click and collect services being responsible for a further spread of the virus, and that it is currently an important lifeline to many independent retailers.

The letter has also been also been signed by the Booksellers Association of the UK & Ireland, Horticultural Trades Association, and Retra Ltd.
