New Covid safety guidance for retailers in Wales

Following an update on coronavirus measures in Wales, retailers have been provided with fresh guidance on keeping their workplace safe.

The update to the 'Retail premises: potential reasonable meausures action card (coronavirus) aims to 'strengthen' guidance in the ongoing fight against the virus.

According to the British Retail Consortium (BRC), the revised card carries stronger messaging on the wearing of face coverings, the requirement of regular tannoy announcements reminding people on the premises of their obligations and, more importantly, that risk assessments must be bespoke not generic. The central guidance on risk based reasonable measures is also being updated to reflect the absolute requirement for bespoke assessments in all settings.

Andrew Goodacre, Bira CEO, said: "We urge all members to maintain the safety protocols where possible and ensure that risk assessments, specific to that business, are updated. We all want to avoid a rise in cases, pressure on the NHS and any potential closures before Christmas."
