Bira comments on Governments plan to introduce to Plan B

It was announced yesterday (8th November) by the Prime Minister, that England will move to Plan B following the rapid spread of the Omicron variant in the UK.

Andrew Goodacre commented

"So we now have Plan B and we fear that this will lead to further erosion of consumer confidence, reduce footfall and consequently reduce expenditure at this most important time of the year. We have expressed our concerns to the government and called for:

• Re-introduction of the financial support packages to support those businesses seriously impacted by these measures
• More certainty and clarity so that businesses can plan ahead with greater certainty

The government cannot deny that these measures will hurt business profitability and now is the time to provide leadership and reassurance."
