A Shop Out to Help Out-type voucher scheme would 'kickstart consumer confidence, the Bira CEO told The Big Issue.
In the interview, Bira once again put pressure on the Government to consider a shopping voucher initiative similar to that introduced in Northern Ireland.
In NI, every adult has been issued with a £100 shopping voucher.
Bira has repeatedly called on the Government to introduce a scheme after the success of the Eat Out to Help Out initiative last summer.
Andrew Goodacre told The Big Issue: “A voucher scheme like this would really kickstart consumer confidence.
“We’ve got the most important Christmas ever coming up for all the retail and even looking into 2022 we still will need some kind of impetus to bring people fully back to the high street.”
