Ongoing delays in the issuing of Restart Grants by some local authorities is 'inexcusable', Bira CEO Andrew Goodacre told a national newspaper.
He spoke to the Daily Telegraph following reports from our members saying they had not received their Restart Grants - despite reopening after lockdown on April 12.
Bira has been raising the matter of delayed Restart Grants since the start of last month; the grants were pledged in Rishi Sunak's March Budget. The matter was also raised with Small Business Minister Paul Scully during a meeting with Bira in May. Full story here
Recently, member Peter Wooding, who runs Orcs Nest in London, spoke to BBC Radio 4 You & Yours presenter Samantha Fenwick about not having received nearly £4,000 yet from his local authority - the Royal Borough of Camden. The day after the programme was broadcast, Peter heard his grant had been approved.
