The National Business Crime Centre (NBCC) is preparing for the 2025 Safer Business Action (SaBA) Week, which will take place next week.

The national week of action, starting on Monday 10th November, is part of ongoing efforts to tackle retail crime, anti-social behaviour and other offences affecting businesses and local communities.

SaBA Week

Last year’s SaBA Week saw significant results, with over 750 arrests made across the country. Police and partners ran more than 640 SaBA days and events, involving over 3,400 officers and PCSOs.

This year, Business Crime Reduction Partnerships (BCRPs), Business Improvement Districts (BIDs) and the private security industry will again work together to target prolific offenders, deliver crime prevention advice and carry out joint patrols.

The initiative forms part of the national ‘Tackling Retail Crime Together’ plan, launched by the Minister of State for Policing and Crime Prevention in July.

Superintendent Lisa Maslen, NBCC lead, said: “The NBCC week of action has become an important event in the calendar for police, partners and the business community. There were some excellent results last year in terms of arrests and convictions but also in building long-term engagement and trust with local businesses.”

Independent retailers are urged to get behind the campaign by taking part locally and displaying ShopKind messaging in their stores, helping to promote respect and safety for shopworkers and customers alike.
