The West of England Combined Authority (WECA) has announced an extension of funding available for a vital scheme aimed at bolstering security measures for independent retail shops in Bath and North East Somerset, South Gloucestershire, and Bristol.
The funding, which was initially set to close at the end of March, has been extended until the end of September, providing a critical lifeline for businesses grappling with the rising challenge of shoplifting.
Under the extended scheme, eligible businesses can now access grants of up to £4,000, with a 20% match funding requirement.
To qualify for this funding, businesses must meet the following criteria:
- An independent retail shop significantly affected by shoplifting.
- Located in Bath and North East Somerset, South Gloucestershire or Bristol.
- Able to provide a 20% match funding contribution to your item(s) you are seeking funding for.
It's important to note that the scheme cannot fund pre-existing items, meaning items that have already been purchased and implemented prior to funding being agreed are ineligible for funding.
Eligible businesses can utilise the funding towards the purchase of various security equipment, including but not limited to:
- Body-worn cameras
- CCTV systems
- In-store anti-theft measures
