Take part in the Net Zero Business Census

The Net Zero Business Census 2025 is a national initiative aimed at gathering essential data on UK businesses' progress towards net zero, and Bira members are invited to take part.

The Net Zero Business Census is the largest national research initiative of its kind, designed to build a clearer picture of how UK businesses are addressing the challenge of decarbonisation.

It gathers insights into where businesses are on their net zero journey and what support they need.

It’s purpose and objectives are to identify the progress businesses are making towards net zero, understand the barriers and challenges businesses face, as well as informing policy, funding, and support strategies to help UK businesses transition effectively.

The census is led by the UK Business Climate Hub, in partnership with organisations including: Federation of Small Businesses (FSB), Institute of Directors (IoD), British Chambers of Commerce (BCC), Confederation of British Industry (CBI), Make UK, SME Climate Hub and UK Government’s Department for Energy Security and Net Zero.

The census is open until August 31st, 2025. completing the census is straightforward and takes just 5–10 minutes. It involves answering a series of multiple choice questions about your business’s current carbon footprint, plans for reduction, and what support would help you move forward.
