The UK Government will be carrying out a test of the Emergency Alerts system.
The alert test will be carried out on Sunday 7th September at 3pm.
What is an Emergency Alert?
Emergency Alerts are a UK-wide system designed to warn people if there is a danger to life nearby, such as severe flooding or fires. Alerts are sent to compatible mobile phones and tablets, with a loud siren-like sound and a message on screen.
How retailers can help
The Government has created free, ready-to-use materials for both in-store displays and digital channels. Independent retailers are encouraged to use these resources to help inform customers and their communities about the upcoming test.
Sharing these messages locally will support public awareness of the test and help communities understand how Emergency Alerts work. See the links below for more information and to access the assets.
