Retail Training

Retail Training

bira training is a division of the British Independent Retailers Association, (bira). We offer a variety of training courses and day seminars as well as distance learning courses for small to medium sized independent retailers.

bira training courses are specifically designed for small and medium sized independent retailers.  We offer high quality and cost-effective programmes to improve the skills and techniques of your team, supporting performance improvement and business growth.

One Day Seminars & Distant Learning Courses

Our value for money seminar/workshops have been developed with members in mind and offer practical solutions to some of the most important challenges facing today’s retailers. Not only can participants exchange professionally valuable information with other participants but they can also pick up new ideas from outside the scope of their daily work that can be customised and applied to your business.

The seminars are held at bira’s purpose built training and conference facility in Middleton Cheney, near Banbury, and Birmingham.

Distance Learning

Distance Learning dates back to at least 1728 when “Caleb Phillips, Teacher of the new method of Short Hand” was seeking students for lessons to be dispatched weekly, in an advertisement in the Boston Gazette. In Britain in the 1840s Sir Isaac Pitman taught shorthand by correspondence course and in 1858 the University of London established its External Programme, claiming to be the first to offer distance learning degrees.

bira continues in this tradition by offering three distance learning courses for retailers that are cost effective and time efficient, offering real value for money. They are designed for practical application in the workplace, with exercises and activities, and can be completed at a pace to suit the individual and at a time to suit the business.
