Bonningtons has now been trading for over 55 years and its ongoing success has been due to the ability to adapt to changing times. Back in 2001 when I took over from my dad, we used to be heavily invested in manufacturing in the UK which we were very proud of.However, 2 years into my new role I had no option but to close our manufacturing facility and start importing from China to remain competitive within the market.This was the start of a new era for Bonningtons and we grew rapidly for 20 years.Over the last 5 years Bonningtons has had to adapt to changing times yet again with the growth of Amazon and the easy access to China for the masses, and as a result Bonningtons has reduced its portfolio to a core range of 500 every day, bread and butter products.

In addition, I am delighted to be investing in UK manufacturing once again having invested in a new company called FLOW which is in the UK manufacturing division of Bonningtons. Both businesses are in the 100,000 sqft warehouse in Nottingham and the teams within both businesses are fully integrated to support one another. We see huge opportunity in the future, and over the years to come you will see constant development of new innovative products.

We have a planned investment in new plant machinery of over £2 million for 2024 alone. We have already installed our first fully automatic bottling line which has enabled us to bottle over 10 million items per year. Following this, we will be purchasing injection moulding machines to manufacture our own bottles, and our first AdBlue manufacturing plant. By the end of 2024 we will be the most fully integrated end to end manufacturing facility in the UK.
