What will happen next?
On completion of the Business Rates Audit, you will be informed if they believe you could have a case for appeal via the VOA. There is no obligation to proceed with the appeal process through Appeal Business Rates, however, if you do wish to progress, there is a non-refundable fee based on 5% of the rateable value of your property.
It's important to note that a successful appeal is not guaranteed success, but the 5% fee would still be payable.

Do I Have to Use an Agent?
You are entitled to review and challenge your business rates assessment yourself. However, Appeal Business Rates has the experience, data access and technical knowledge to handle the process correctly and take the hassle and risk out of your hands.
When It May Be Better to Self-Claim
If your rateable value is below £12,000 - you should be in receipt of SBRR - please check your business rates bill and contact your local authority if you are not getting the relief of if you don't know. A Bira guide to appealling yourself can be found here.

Our Fees
If your rateable value is between £12,000 and £24,000 - The cost is £1295 plus VAT and 25% of the first year's savings**
If your rateable value is above £24,000 - The cost is 5% of the RV plus 25% of the savings from the first year**
** We only charge a fee after we have made a site visit and you have instructed us to go ahead.
Note: If your rateable value is below £12,000 - you should be in receipt of SBRR
Important Risk Warning
Please note that when a Rateable Value is formally challenged, the Valuation Office Agency may reassess the property. This can, in some cases, result in the Rateable Value increasing as well as decreasing. Appeal always assess this risk before proceeding and will advise clients accordingly.
