The EU General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) comes into effect on 25 May 2018.
Is your business ready to deal with the new rules on GDPR?
The regulation takes the existing laws around personal data and adds extra layers of accountability and compliance, while also providing data subjects with additional rights. Retailers using e-marketing need to be aware of the new law, which imposes some significant changes around consent which your business needs to be prepared for.
The basic obligations for processing personal data remain the same: Only collect what you need for lawful processing, keep it up to date, delete it when you can, keep it secure and don’t send it out of the European Economic Area (subject to some exemptions).
