Bira Members invited to event at Buckingham Palace for contributions of small businesses to the UK economy

We are delighted to confirm that up to 50 members of the British independent retail association have been invited to an event at Buckingham Place, hosted by the King. The event is being organised to recognise the contribution of small businesses to the UK economy.

One of our members who has receive the invite is Monica from Shoreham Knitting & Needlecraft. Monica has been running her business for over 50 years and has seen the ups and down of retail during that time. She is absolutely thrilled to be recognised in this way, especially after celebrating 50 years in business this year.

Andrew Goodacre, Bira CEO, said "It is great that the Palace wants to recognise the value and the role played by independent retailers. This is fantastic recognition for these retailers who will represent the independent retail sector. Our members have never been invited to such an event before and this shows the growing credibility and influence of Bira as an association".
