'Independent retailers are very much a fabric of the high street', Bira CEO Andrew Goodacre told the Retail Gazette.
Andrew and the work of Bira was the feature of the Gazette's Big Interview this week.
He talks about the devastating impact of the pandemic on independent retail, but is also hopeful for the future.
“I feel positive in what we can do to help them move forward. I feel very encouraged by the way people in government talk about wanting to support independent retailers because it shows that they recognise the role these businesses can play," he says.
