It’s time to clear out that stock cupboard!

A Good Thing is a new matchmaking app that makes it easy for independent retailers and small businesses to donate unwanted items directly to charities in their local community.

The concept is very simple – any unwanted products, fittings and equipment can be offered via the app. The app notifies local charities to find a match. The charity then comes to pick up the items and puts them to good use! The majority of matches are made very nearby to where businesses are based.

Our CEO, Andrew Goodacre said, “It is far better to recycle than send unwanted items to landfill. This simple app helps independent retailers to be more sustainable, whilst also helping local charities”.

A Good Thing is a not-for-profit organisation and use of the app is free. The aim is to reduce the amount of waste that ends up in landfill, while also supporting local charities that are so desperately short of funding. Hundreds of businesses and charities right across the UK are already signed up, and A Good Thing has seen successes from small independent retailers all the way to multi-nationals. Any items can be offered via the app – but typically end-of-life products, furniture and fittings, and office equipment. It’s surprising how your unwanted items can make a huge difference to the brilliant work charities are doing.

To sign up and offer your unwanted items, visit www.agoodthing.org.uk. It takes about 30 seconds to sign up.
