From Saturday 24 October, Coventry, Slough and Stoke-on-Trent moved from Local COVID Alert Level Medium to Local Alert Level High.

Measures will only be in place as long as necessary, with case rates and epidemiology reviewed regularly. These measures will be reviewed every 14 days to consider whether they are still appropriate. Help to communicate the Covid Alert Levels and guidance with your networks.

Key messages include:

New local restrictions, effective from Saturday 24 October 00:01, include:

  • people must not meet with anybody outside their household or support bubble in any indoor setting, whether at home or in a public place
  • people must not meet in a group of more than 6 outside, including in a garden or other space
  • people should aim to reduce the number of journeys they make where possible; if they need to travel, they should walk or cycle where possible, or plan ahead and avoid busy times and routes on public transport

There is a comprehensive package of support available which includes:

  • £3.7 billion of funding to local authorities in England to respond to pressures in all their services.
  • On Monday 12 October the Prime Minister also announced additional COVID funding of around £1 billion which will provide local authorities with additional money to protect vital services.
